21 ST CENTURY TEACHING TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP
The 21st Century Teaching Technique Workshop is a very comprehensive program with the participation from teachers in the District Education Office and also the State Education Department. In an age of ever-increasing information, rote learning cannot keep pace. To succeed, learning providers will need to acquire a flexible, entrepreneurial mindset that propels them to keep learning and adapting to change. This workshop hopes to equip teachers and learning providers with essential interpersonal skills to become skilled navigators of a networked, global economy.
The 21st Century Teaching Technique Workshop will help teachers get ahead of the curve—and stay there—by providing meaningful and relevant learning opportunities that incorporate creative and critical 21st century thinking skills, projects, and real-world experiences. This workshop will empower teachers to empower their students for success in school and beyond.
7-A-SIDE NATIONAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP (7S1M1S)
The National 7-A-Side Football Championship OR 7S1M1S is YBR’s premier sporting program and is jointly held with the Ministry of Education involving 16 schools representing each state in the country including FT Labuan & Putrajaya. 7S1M1S aims to nurture human capital through wholesome participation amongst school children in sports throughout the year, cultivating a sporting culture amongst students so that they become a member of the society with an active, balanced and healthy lifestyle, forming good values and self-discipline and creating a track record towards sporting excellence.
7S1M1S is a whole load of fun to take part in, as our young schoolchildren join their mates to take on teams from around the country and played the sport that Malaysians love in surroundings that offer great times for everyone.
7S1M1S is also conceptualised to provide access to all students in obtaining benefits from involvement in sports, especially to the less privileged and less active students and provide opportunity to all students with talents and potentials to be polished to a higher level.
A Day With IKON
A-Day with ICON Program has been established in order to help secondary school students and youth develop the confidence, self-esteem and skills they need to be successful in school and in life and also to nurture interest in career development by providing encouragement, support and guidance to students. Current ICONS include National Astronaut candidate under Malaysia’s Angkasawan program Mejar Dr Faiz Khaleed and the renowned preacher Ustaz Don Daniyal Don Biyajid who have agreed to help students to find ways to keep them motivated and engaged in the learning process for academic success. Additionally, they will inspire students to find an area of all-consuming interest, providing opportunities for them to extend and deepen their knowledge, and help them envision a successful future ahead of them.
DIDIK RAKYAT SEMINAR
Program information :
Didik Rakyat Seminar is a collaborative program between YBR and Berita Harian BH which was initiated since 2003. This free seminar has facilitated more than 200,000 students across the country, especially in rural areas including in Sabah and Sarawak. The one-day seminar seeks to support students to make early preparations for Malaysian Final National Examinations namely Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), PT3 and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Didik Rakyat aims to help students make intensive preparations mainly involving learning techniques, tips and proven methods to tackle challenging examination questions. Didik Rakyat is open to all Year 6, Form 3 & Form 5 students and will cater to only 200 pupils per seminar. Online registration for Didik Rakyat Seminar is through YBR website & MyYBR apps.
KEJOHANAN SUKAN SEKOLAH MURID ORANG ASLI (KSSMOA)
Program information :
‘Kejohanan Sukan Sekolah Murid Orang Asli’ (KSSMOA); Aboriginal School Students Sports Championship is another National level YBR sporting events held in-collaboration with the Ministry of Education. KSSMOA was conceptualized in order to promote a sporting culture among the aboriginal school pupils in their respective school. Additionally, it also used as a platform to nurture their athletics ability and to support and empower their sporting dreams. The program is dedicated to the key development period of primary school students and is focused on supporting them to achieve the futures that they envisage for themselves. The aborigine was selected because they are the least group of schoolchildren which received much attention from the mainstream media and publicity. To improve the health, socio-economic wellbeing and educational upliftment of our young aboriginal YBR use the universal language of sport. Sport however is merely the vehicle we utilise as it allows us to consistently achieve results for this particular disciples. The program also intends to foster unity among the disciples in the affected states in the country.
KEMBARA MUDA RAKYAT
KEMBARA Muda Rakyat is YBR’s annual signature kid exploration program which was first introduced in 2014. KEMBARA Muda offers kids a first chance to be away from home and in the process, learn how to make choices for themselves. KEMBARA Muda will expand kids’ realm of thinking, of trying, of doing — and foster a renewed love and passion for learning. KEMBARA Muda isn’t about narrowing kids interests down to one or even a few things — it’s about opening themselves up to the world.
The program offers exciting theme in each session, allowing kids to explore places of interest throughout the country. Each thematic trips will focus on cultural, educational, science and technology, agricultural, heritage and recreational opportunities, including sightseeing, performing arts trips, and outdoor adventures.
Every day, students will be experiencing something new — including meeting new friends around them. With participation from all over the country kids will have a chance to get to know their new friends with customs, beliefs, and views that might be really different from their own. But the more time they spend getting to know them, the more they will find they’re not so different after all.
LESTARI Rakyat is a special collaborative program between YBR, LESTARI Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Kuala Lumpur Local Agenda 21 (LA-21 KL). This program focuses on holistic approach to education based on soil conservation, waste management, forestry, water and efficient energy consumption. The program intends for better quality of life for present and future generations through sustainable management and use of the environment and natural resources. A holistic approach to environment and sustainability education demonstrates existing opportunities to promote a more synergistic understanding of the environmental, social, cultural and economic factors of local and global contexts. There will be 3 series of programs to teachers and primary and secondary school students.
MARINE AWARENESS PROGRAM

After the successful running of LESTARI Rakyat program YBR have move one-step further to introduced the Marine Awareness Program in 2015. This is part of CSR program conducted by YBR together with our partners like Ocean-Quest and LESTARI UKM to conserve and preserve the environment as well as to create economic opportunity to the local coastal community. This program has introduced a number of exciting and innovative Marine Education Awareness learning programs which not only focuses on formal training but also caters for individuals with enquiring minds and an innate desire to learn more about the Marine Environment and Marine biodiversity. Learn about the Marine and Coastal ecosystem, the various relationships in the Marine and coastal systems and the role, form and function of iconic animals we have identified as core to our programs. Scuba dive training is employed as an integral part of one of our trademark and iconic 4-series of marine awareness programs. This first-come-first-served program by invitation is only open to YBR scholars to a maximum of 20 scholars per series.
Robotics Workshop is a 2 series of workshop catered for teachers and students. Each series consist of 2-day session for 30 teachers and 1 day for 60 school children. The Robotics workshop provides a hands-on experience is solving real world challenges and exposes students to physics, mechanics, electronics, programming, vocabulary building and much more. Robotic is the future of our next generations, which require not only math, science, social skills, but also require greater ideas for great Inventions. Our mission is to help our next generation get to the level of innovation with the power of technology where inventions never end. Participants will learn robotics technology from ADTEC Batu Pahat and is based on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics,) is designed to provide opportunities for skill-building based on development level.
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
This is a special capacity building program catered for YBR scholars and is compulsory to be attended by all scholars at least once in their lifetime as PPBU's recipients. The program emphasizes on character building and soft skills enhancement to develop their overall personality, thereby enhancing their career prospects and marketability upon graduation.
The soft skills training provides strong practical orientation to the students and will facilitate them in building and improving their communication skills, the effective use of English, business correspondence, presentations, team building, leadership, time management, group discussions, interviews, and inter-personal skills. This training also help students in career visioning and planning, effective resume writing and dealing with placement consultants and head-hunters.
Talent Rakyat is a capacity enhancement program that provides soft skills and hard skills to future graduates and to prepare them for employment in line with the government's aspiration in the National Key Economic Area (NKEA) of reducing the percentage of less skilled workers from 76% in 2009 to 50% in 2020.
Talent Rakyat is also the source of supply of skilful talents for Bank Rakyat and its subsidiaries. This high-impact program will expose graduates directly (on-the-job training) on how to be a resourceful employee and a competitive human capital that can contribute back to the community.
Unfortunately, not everyone can afford private or even group tuition and most of the less privileged families often struggle to provide their children with much-needed help in their studies. In view of this apparent need, YBR launched Tuition Rakyat programme in 2015.
For 2016 a total of 260 schools have benefited from the program. The 4-6 months long program caters to less privileged students sitting for their final UPSR examination. The program has helped students in need of assistance with their school work and revision. Classes are usually held every Saturday (excluding Public Holidays and end-of-the-year School Holidays). Students registered for the Free Tuition programme can expect help from a team of dedicated well-experienced teachers and speakers.
